Horizontal (Venetian) Blinds Operating Instructions

Faux-Wood/Wood

To open/close the window blind:

Using the tilt strings (typically on the left), pull the left tilt string to simultaneously rotate the slats up or the right tilt string to simultaneously rotate the slats down.

Tips

Leaving the slats angled down will provide a slightly more pleasing aesthetic but may allow more direct light to filter through in a downward direction. Leaving the slats angled up will prevent the light from filtering downward directly (thus giving you more light control) but may create more separation between slats, which may cause more general light to filter into the room and a slightly less appealing aesthetic.

Note

If a visible gap remains between the highest slat and the track after you have closed the slats, grasp the tilt string that corresponds with the angle you chose and pull it downward again until the gap closes.

To raise the window blind

Open all the slats using the corresponding tilt string first, then firmly grasp the lift strings (typically on the right) using the tassel and angle them towards the center of the blind, then pull downward in a controlled manner until desired height is reached. Before releasing the strings, angle them back to their normal position to keep the slats locked at the desired height.

Caution

Do not attempt to raise the window blind while the slats are in the closed position as this will eventually cause damage to the lift strings and may affect the ability to raise and lower the blind correctly.

To lower the window blind

Firmly grasp all the lift strings (typically on the right) using the tassel and angle them towards the center of the blind (this will release the cord lock) and slowly release the lift strings to allow the slats to lower on their own.

Note

If the slats are not moving simultaneously and one side is moving up but not the other when you try to raise the blind, it is usually because one of the lift strings was pulled separately from the others and is now longer than the others. To correct the angle of the slats, pull the tassel of the lift strings towards the center of the blind until all the lift strings are pulled to the same length again, this will correct the angle of the slats.
